A cyberpunk shopkeeping simulator from Questing Goose Studio and tinyBuild: run a pawnshop on a corrupt space station, trade goods of questionable origin, stay on the right side of Security and the station's factions, and earn enough to buy out the store before the rising rent catches up with you. Version 1.0 came out on Steam on October 28, 2026, and the developers say they have been patching it every day since.
What kind of game is Probably Stolen?
Probably Stolen is a cyberpunk shopkeeping simulator from Questing Goose Studio, published by tinyBuild. You play a former scavenger who got a storefront on a towering, corrupt space station thanks to a generous loan, and the goal is easy to state: earn enough to buy out the store before the rising rent forces your hand. The catch is that the best margins sit in legal gray zones. You craft, trade, flip and sometimes smuggle goods of questionable origin, and the customer at your counter could be a Security officer fishing for evidence, a revolutionary looking for leverage or a fallen member of the elite testing whether you’re useful. You decide whether to approve a deal, refuse it, report it or look away, and your reputation with the station’s factions opens doors while also making you a target.
According to the store page, each product line has its own risk: weapons draw inspections, chemicals addiction, water liability and contraband raids. Cigarette packs need checking before resale, water has to be tested and filtered, weapons need permits, profitable chemicals depend on closely guarded recipes and rare items need appraisal so you don’t overpay. You can cut quality, pass counterfeits off as genuine or fence stolen goods, if you’re confident Security won’t catch on. On top of that, a sentient AI chip has gone rogue along with its hosts, the Augs, who can pass for ordinary customers until they give themselves away, and every faction wants them stopped.
The game began as a solo project by developer Bei Ning Pan, who was later joined by four artists and three audio developers. According to the August 3 announcement, it grew out of an earlier turn-based space station crawler called Space Looter, and its biggest inspirations are Space Station 13 and, to a lesser degree, Papers, Please.
Where is the game right now?
Probably Stolen was announced with a Steam playtest on August 3, 2026. More than 100,000 people tried the playtest, a demo followed on September 14, and by October 27 the game had 500,000 wishlists and was one of the most played demos of Steam Next Fest. Version 1.0 launched on October 28, 2026, on Steam for Windows, at $19.99 with a 10% launch discount ($17.99 on November 3), in eight languages.
By the team’s own account, the launch went far beyond what it expected. The official posts report 200,000 copies sold in the first few hours, more than 350,000 copies and a peak of over 112,000 concurrent players in the first 24 hours, and 500,000 copies by October 30, with 96% positive reviews from nearly 3,000 Steam reviews. On November 3, Valve’s Steam Web API showed 122,778 people playing, a 24-hour peak of 156,413 and 22nd place on Steam’s most-played chart.
Steam’s achievement data shows how far players have got. On November 3, 20.9% of players had unlocked Keys to the Kingdom for owning the store’s deed, the goal every run works toward; 4.6% had done it before day 50, and 1.9% had won from the Rock Bottom start, the hardest of the nine.
Since launch, the developers have posted four hotfixes in four days, from 1.0.0.1 to the 1.0.0.6 modding security update, and they say they are patching every day based on player reports. Their roadmap promises free updates with three new starting scenarios (Junker, Organ Trader and Street Food Vendor), Expeditions, new appraisal items and an expansion of the main story, so far without dates.
What do our Probably Stolen pages cover?
We started with a question many players ask after a big launch: what changed, and what comes next. The patch notes page explains every update since 1.0 in plain words, newest first, with what each change means for your shop, and lists the roadmap the developers have published. We add pages when the official posts give us enough to explain something properly.
Every fact comes from Questing Goose and tinyBuild’s posts on Steam and from the Steam store page, and each page lists the posts it was checked against. We don’t publish chemical recipes, price lists, tier lists or strategies of our own; where a page gives advice, it comes from what the developers changed and said, and the page says so.
How often do we update?
The player count in the “At a glance” section below comes from Valve’s Steam Web API each time we rebuild the site, and the list of official announcements is refreshed the same way, at most once a day. Our tracker reads the developers’ Steam announcements every day, so each new hotfix is checked against the patch notes page when it lands, and that page shows a “Last verified” date near the top. If you notice a change we haven’t caught, the contact form reaches us.
