The latest Probably Stolen update is 1.0.0.6 from October 31, 2026, a security update to the modding system that may break some mods. The first week's hotfixes cut water equipment prices, reworked the Water Purifier, added a bell hotkey and fixed dozens of bugs. Next on the roadmap: the Junker, Organ Trader and Street Food Vendor starts, Expeditions and a story expansion.
Probably Stolen left its demo behind on October 28, 2026, and Questing Goose Studio has been patching it ever since; in the official Steam posts the team says it releases updates and hotfixes every day based on player feedback and bug reports. This page collects every update the developers have posted since version 1.0, explains what each one means for your shop, and lists what they have promised next. Version numbers and dates come from those posts, and we update the page when a new one appears.
What is the latest Probably Stolen update?
The latest is 1.0.0.6, posted on October 31, 2026. It is a security update for the game’s modding system, and it may break some mods until their authors update them. Before that came three hotfix posts in the three days after launch: 1.0.0.1 and 1.0.0.2 on launch day, and 1.0.0.5 on October 30. There are no separate posts for 1.0.0.3 and 1.0.0.4; the 1.0.0.5 post says the team had shipped a couple of patches since release and gives the full changelogs for the latest updates.

| 1.0.0.1 | October 28 | Reporting Lou no longer costs Black Market reputation; Smuggler Bay and Merchant discount fixes |
| 1.0 | October 28 | Full release: nine starting scenarios, four difficulties, the ending, Workshop mods, vending machines, 21 achievements |
What did hotfix 1.0.0.1 change?
The first hotfix arrived a few hours after launch. Its one gameplay change concerns Lou, the criminal mastermind whose storyline was completed for 1.0: reporting her to Security no longer lowers your Black Market reputation, so turning her in no longer costs you standing with the black market.
The fixes that matter most during a run:
- Smuggler Bays. Items inside a Smuggler Bay were confiscated during inspections when the bay sat in the trash can, or, for the Mini Smuggler Bay, after it had been kept behind the poster. That no longer happens.
- The Merchant’s discount. He always claimed to want a 15% discount. He now states the discount he actually takes on your difficulty.
- Storage. The Hypertech Storage Bay can no longer be placed inside smuggler bays.
The rest are interface fixes: tooltips hidden behind windows on ultrawide screens, tutorial hints that stayed on screen after sleeping, an empty pause menu while travelling to an afterhour location, and main menu music that ignored the volume setting.
What did the water balance hotfix 1.0.0.2 change?
Later on launch day, the developers rebalanced water, the trade behind the Water Merchant start, in response to community feedback. Water equipment became cheaper and easier to use:
| Item | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Moisture Farm price | 650 | 350 |
| Water Filter price | 50 | 25 |
| Dr. Jackson’s markup on his stock (Normal difficulty) | 25% | 15% |
| Water Purifier price (changed in 1.0.0.5) | 300 | 250 |
The Water Purifier machine itself was also improved, with its logic reworked to be more intuitive. Its price cut came later: the 1.0.0.5 notes lower it from 300 to 250 and say the change was missed in the previous patch.
Two story and start changes came with it: Lou can no longer be shot during any of her visits, and the 3D printer in the Gunsmith start now comes with its instruction note. A fix also stopped the blackmailer from sometimes offering no way to pay even when you had enough credits.
What changed in hotfix 1.0.0.5?
The October 30 post is the longest of the post-launch notes so far. Its one new feature is a key for the counter bell: “Call next customer (Bell)” is bound to B by default and can be rebound, and holding it dismisses the current customer, just like holding the bell.
Changes that affect how you play:
- Loot crates are now final once opened. Before, opened crates were restocked with new random items every time a save was loaded after your luck had increased.
- The evaporator sometimes left 1 µl of water in a mixed alcohol batch, which cost an extra night and got the batch refused by the Chem Finisher. Recipes with dry inputs now also ignore trace moisture.
- Power cuts. A store whose power had been cut lit up again after an afterhour trip; the lights now stay off until the next night’s power check.
- After you buy the store, the Merchant keeps visiting every Sunday.
- Small conveniences. You can drag any bandage onto a Glass Shard to make a Glass Shiv without using up the bandage, and the Scavenger’s Token can now be kept in the Dossier. The Smuggler Bay Mod from the Underground Exchange is no longer thrown out if you leave it in the trash can overnight. The Inventor also stocks the Gene Scanner once Rat Ranching is unlocked, and water customers now tell you to take the filter out of a Water Pitcher instead of silently refusing it.
- Scanners now cut liquid volumes down to the hundredth, so 1,996 µl reads 1.99 mL and a reading never claims more than the container holds.
Display and performance changed too. The frame rate cap is now VSync instead of a software limiter, which fixes stuttering and screen tearing on high refresh rate monitors; it was switched on once for everyone and can be turned off again in Options. Auto-rotate while sorting is now off by default for new players, borderless fullscreen works on monitors that aren’t 16:9, and Alt-Tabbing no longer brings the game back as a small window with a misaligned interface. The post also lists fixes for Spanish, Polish, German, Japanese and Russian players, including suppliers who stopped answering the phone after the first call in Spanish.
Why did mods break after update 1.0.0.6?
Update 1.0.0.6, posted on October 31 by Questing Goose Studio itself, is a security update for the modding system. The developers warn that some mods may break and will need to be updated by their authors, so if a mod stops working, check its Steam Workshop page for an updated version. The same update adds a “Menu / Back” binding in Options, a second key that does everything Esc does.
Mods are a big part of this launch. Version 1.0 shipped with Steam Workshop support, a modding API and mod localization support, and the developers counted several dozen mods on the Workshop on launch day. Mods built for the demo were already unlikely to work with the full game.
What did version 1.0 add?
Version 1.0 replaced the demo on October 28. According to the launch posts, it added:
- Nine starting scenarios: Apprentice, which the developers call best for beginners, Water Merchant, Fence, Gunsmith, Chemist, Hydroponic Farmer, Aquafarmer, Rat Wrangler, and Rock Bottom, which starts you with nothing at maximum difficulty.
- Four difficulty options, chosen after the starting scenario, from beginner friendly to a very hard mode. The developers suggest combining the hardest with Rock Bottom if you want an extra challenge.
- An ending: buy the store from the landlord to own it, then see your stats, including your most profitable sale, days survived, total worth and perks. The developers also warn against playing with Sentinel Collapse Disorder on your first run.
- Completed storylines for Lou, Eleanor, Officer Lun and cadet Serpico, and expanded backstories for criminals on the wanted list, including Butcher.
- Vending Machines that keep selling overnight after you close.
- Steam Workshop support, a modding API and mod localization support.
- New starting perks, a full UI overhaul, 21 Steam achievements, more of Georgio (but no romance for now) and translations into Simplified Chinese, Russian, Spanish, French, German, Polish and Japanese.
Demo saves carry over, but the developers strongly recommend starting fresh so you don’t miss the new storylines, and the demo itself was retired at launch.
What is coming in the next update?
The developers promise regular free content updates after 1.0 but haven’t given dates. The roadmap in their launch posts lists:
- The Junker starting scenario, the only item described as coming shortly after launch.
- The Organ Trader starting scenario, which they pitch at fans of the Butcher.
- The Street Food Vendor starting scenario.
- Expeditions: recruit people and send them on runs, for example hiring a scav for scavenging missions.
- New appraisal items.
- A main storyline expansion that will affect the station and how your story ends.
What hasn’t been announced yet?
- Dates for any roadmap item, including the Junker.
- Other platforms. The Steam page lists Windows only, and the developers haven’t announced console or Mac versions.
- Separate notes for 1.0.0.3 and 1.0.0.4. Only the 1.0.0.1, 1.0.0.2, 1.0.0.5 and 1.0.0.6 posts exist.
