Scam With Your Friends FAQ: Gameplay, Players, Price and Platforms

Updated · Based on 9 official and cited sources

Scam With Your Friends is a co-op party game where you run a fictional scam call center and talk AI callers out of their money by voice or text. It's in Steam Early Access for $8.99, Windows PC only, with lobbies of 1 to 8 players. Full release is targeted for mid-December 2026.

Answers come from the Steam store page, including the developers’ Early Access Q&A, and the Steam posts by developers JakeHub and Metater. The game is published by Jatater Worldwide.

How do you play?

You and your friends staff a scam call center in Kolkata, India, working under a ruthless boss. The callers are fictional AI characters you talk to in real time, by voice or by typing. Your job is to hit the daily quota by pulling off scams; miss it and you get fired.

What a workday involves, according to the store page and patch notes:

  • Scams from an in-game app store, such as Bitcoin, Meme Coin, Lottery Prize, Police Impersonation, Investment, Romance, Utility Billing and Password Recovery. Several need a code from the caller, like an invoice or confirmation number, before you get paid.
  • Remote access to callers’ computers to dig up the personal details you need.
  • Workplace disasters that grow more chaotic each day: computer viruses from scambaiters, police raids and air strikes.
  • A performance review from your rageaholic boss, built around replays of funny highlights, with moments from different players given priority.
  • Run-based progression, with your arsenal of scams growing each day you progress and Prestige counts shown above player names.

The game also has an in-game paint app, screen recorder and camera. A Family Friendly mode covers caller conversations and boss-review narration, blocks the in-game browser and replaces private caller photos with a placeholder.

How many players can play?

Lobbies hold 1 to 8 players. The game supports single-player and online co-op:

  • Join friends by code; the code field also accepts Steam invite links.
  • Browse public lobbies, filtered by player count and country, with My version first sorting.
  • Everyone needs the same game version. A lobby on a different version shows update instructions.

How much does it cost?

$8.99 on Steam in the US. In the Early Access Q&A, the developers say they expect the price to stay the same through Early Access and at full release. They haven’t finalized full-release pricing and say they’ll announce any change before it takes effect. The store page also lists Steam Family Sharing.

Is it on mobile, PS5 or Xbox?

No. It’s on Steam for Windows PC only, and the developers’ posts don’t mention mobile, PlayStation or Xbox versions. The game now warns that Mac, Linux, CrossOver, Wine and Proton setups are currently unsupported.

Windows ARM PCs, including Snapdragon devices, got experimental speech recognition and caller voices in mid-October, though the higher-quality Qwen3 voices aren’t available on them.

Do you need a microphone and internet?

  • Internet: a broadband connection is required, since the AI calls run online.
  • Microphone: optional. Speech recognition is built in, but you can also type to callers instead. The game warns you when your PC can’t run speech recognition.
  • Speech options: a Speech settings tab lets you choose built-in Whisper or Moonshine recognition, or optional Deepgram recognition with your own Deepgram account and API key, billed to that account.
  • Caller voices: the optional Qwen3 voices need a compatible GPU. The launch post asks players using non-English languages to let the Qwen3 download finish on the main menu for better text-to-speech.
  • Languages: Steam lists 23 languages, all with full audio.

What are the PC requirements?

The store lists minimum requirements only:

Component Minimum
OS Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit)
Processor Intel Core i5-8400 / AMD Ryzen 5 2600
Memory 3 GB RAM
Graphics NVIDIA GTX 1060 (6 GB) / AMD RX 580
DirectX Version 11
Network Broadband internet
Storage 5 GB

How long will it be in Early Access?

About two months. The developers are targeting a full release in mid-December 2026, though they say feedback, content work and stability could change that. For the full version, they want more scam scenarios and fictional callers, deeper workday progression and office interactions, better co-op, and work on balance, performance and usability.

Date (2026) Milestone
Sept 10 10,000 wishlists
Sept 23 100,000 wishlists
Oct 15 Early Access launch, with 600,000 wishlists

Can you make your own callers?

Yes. The store calls the game heavily moddable: you can create custom caller personalities with JSON files and voice-cloning WAV files, use the in-game Character Creator, and share callers through the Steam Workshop. Each session’s callers come from a Daily Callers list, and hosts can restrict community additions to it.

Is it safe to download?

The official version is sold on Steam, on the game’s store page. The developers’ posts don’t mention any other download sites.

What hasn’t been announced yet?

  • Console or mobile versions: none mentioned.
  • Mac or Linux support: currently unsupported, with no plans announced.
  • Recommended PC specs: the store lists only minimum requirements.
  • A firm full-release date and final price.

Recent fixes are on the patch notes page, hourly player numbers on the player count page, and everything else on the game hub.
