AION 2 FAQ: Platforms, Languages, Servers and PC Requirements
AION 2 is free to play on Windows PC through Steam or NC's PURPLE launcher, with an optional membership and paid cosmetics. NCSoft says controllers work but aren't officially supported, and it only supports Windows, so there is no official Steam Deck, Linux or mobile version. Minimum specs: GTX 1050 Ti, 8 GB RAM, 100 GB storage.
Short answers first, then the detail. Everything here comes from NCSoft’s Launch FAQ, its Steam pre-release FAQ, other official posts and the AION 2 Steam store page.
Is AION 2 free to play?
Yes. The global version is free to play, with an optional monthly membership. NCSoft lists three things you can pay for: cosmetic items, a Battle Pass, and the membership, which its Launch FAQ ties to access to the player-driven economy and currency exchanges.
The perks NCSoft listed for the 30-day Special Quai Membership that came with Founder’s Packs give an idea of what membership covers:
- Access to the Market, Personal Trading and the Quna Exchange Shop
- Access to Remote Storage and the Wind Breeze Merchants
- Higher Odyle Energy maximum capacity
- More Odyle Energy Cube selections in Expedition, Transcendence and Sanctuary
Shop prices in NCSoft’s notes are Purple Store prices, which NCSoft says may differ depending on each store’s policies.
Is it on mobile or console?
No. NCSoft’s Launch FAQ says the global version is available on Steam and PURPLE, and its earlier pre-release FAQ said it was being developed exclusively for PC. The Steam store page describes it as PC only.
Does it support controllers?
Not officially. NCSoft says the game is playable with a controller, but controllers are not officially supported. Before launch it had said it was still evaluating whether full controller support was within scope. The October 13 (PDT) / October 14 (CEST) patch notes also add an invert Y-axis option to Settings.
Can you play it on Steam Deck or Linux?
Not officially. NCSoft says the game might run on other platforms or devices, but the only setups it officially supports are Steam and PURPLE on Windows PC. The Steam store page lists Windows as the only platform and has no Mac or Linux requirements.
What languages does it support?
| Type | Languages |
|---|---|
| Voice-over | English, Japanese, Korean |
| Interface and subtitles | English, French, German, Spanish (Spain), Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Japanese, Korean |
To switch language, click the gear icon in the top right corner in game to open Settings, then choose the language tab.
What regions and servers does it have?
NCSoft has confirmed servers in four locations: North America, South America, Europe and Japan. In the game you first pick a region (Europe, NA West, NA East, Latin America or Asia in NCSoft’s server lists), then a faction, then a server.
A few rules shape how servers work:
- Each server holds only one faction, Elyos or Asmodian.
- Each Elyos server has a partner Asmodian server, and the players you meet in the Abyss, Spacetime Rifts and other cross-faction modes come from your paired server. NCSoft says pairings change periodically to keep the factions balanced.
- Instanced content, dungeons included, is cross-server, according to NCSoft.
- NCSoft has opened extra servers since launch and says its New Server and Matchmaking notice is kept up to date with the current list.
If you want to move, see the server transfer guide.
What are the PC requirements?
From the Steam store page (64-bit Windows required):

| OS | Windows 10/11 (64-bit) | Windows 10/11 (64-bit) |

The game runs on Unreal Engine 5. Since the October 14 (CEST) update, graphics settings are no longer saved to Steam Cloud.
Is there a difference between Steam and Purple?
No. NCSoft says in-game content is the same on both, and Steam and PURPLE players share the same servers. You don’t need a Purple account to play on Steam, but you do need to link the two accounts if you want the same characters and progress on both platforms. The game has no Steam achievements.
Does progress from the Korean or Taiwanese version carry over?
No. NCSoft says progress from the TW or KR versions does not carry over to the global version.
When did it launch?
Advanced Access for Founder’s Pack owners opened on September 30, 2026 (delayed 30 minutes to 6:30 AM PDT), and the global launch followed on October 5, 2026 at 6:00 AM PDT / 15:00 CEST.
How do you contact support or report a bug?
Customer Support is at help.plaync.com. For bugs, NCSoft asks players to post in the bug-reports channel of the game’s official Discord.
What hasn’t been announced yet?
- Membership price: NCSoft’s Steam posts don’t state it; the Launch FAQ points to a monetization notice on the official site.
- Full controller support, Steam Deck or Linux: nothing has been announced beyond NCSoft saying the game may be playable this way without official support.
- Mobile or console versions: none have been announced for the global release.
